Change in the City
‘Change in the City’ started as Kirsty has always been curious about the rise in new developments in and around London. In the last year, she has focused on photographing modern buildings but decided to look closer at the in-between stage of new developments. Living in a new development herself, she had experienced the anticipation of watching and waiting for the building to be completed.
Kirsty’s vision was to present a black and white documentation focusing on a few areas in London that are currently being redeveloped. Wembley was one of the key areas for this project due to its current state in redevelopment. Kirsty aimed to show the in-between stages to show the impact this has on society and the architectural space used.
She did this by showing the building work taking place next to shopping centres and busy roads. The body of work aims to show the impact that regeneration has on the community as the environment is shared by both. By producing a documentation of this, Kirsty believes this project conveys the constant change in the busy city of London.
The project has allowed Kirsty to further develop her technical skills and knowledge of the architectural industry. The final images are presented in black and white using high clarity to bring out the severity of the buildings in their current state.
